The legendary "Dora" takes center stage in this beautifully engineered 1/48 scale kit from MiniArt! Depicting an early-production Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 flown by the famed Jagdgeschwader 54 "Grünherz" (Green Hearts), kit 48035 captures one of the Luftwaffe's most formidable late-war fighters with the distinctive camouflage and markings that made JG 54 aircraft some of the most visually striking machines of World War II.

The Fw 190D-9 represented a major leap in performance over earlier Fw 190 variants. Powered by the liquid-cooled Jumo 213A engine, the "Dora" offered increased speed, climb rate, and high-altitude performance, making it a worthy opponent to Allied fighters such as the P-51 Mustang and Spitfire. JG 54 was among the first operational units to receive the type, and their aircraft often featured unique field-applied camouflage schemes that make them especially appealing to modelers.

MiniArt's Basic Kit series focuses on providing excellent exterior and cockpit detail while simplifying assembly compared to their more advanced releases. The result is a highly detailed model that's approachable for intermediate builders while still offering plenty of opportunities for advanced painting and weathering techniques.

Kit Features:

  • Accurate early-production Fw 190D-9 airframe
  • Finely engraved panel lines and rivet detail
  • Detailed cockpit and instrument panel
  • Optional open or closed canopy
  • Clear parts included
  • Positionable flaps in the lowered position
  • Two decal and marking options for JG 54 "Grünherz" aircraft
  • Simplified "Basic Kit" engineering for an enjoyable build experience

Among the marking options included is "Yellow 4", flown by Werner Merz, featuring the famous "Bums" inscription and four-leaf clover emblem beneath the cockpit, as well as "Black 12", flown by Theo Nibel, which participated in the ill-fated Operation Bodenplatte on January 1, 1945. These aircraft showcase the unique field-applied greens and browns that make JG 54 Doras favorites among Luftwaffe enthusiasts.

Recent builds of MiniArt's new-tool Dora have been praised by modelers for their outstanding detail and fit, with some builders comparing them favorably to the latest offerings from Tamiya and considering them a significant improvement over older kits of the subject.
