The M1A2 SEP V2 represents a major modernization of the Abrams family, incorporating improved electronics, digital systems, advanced sights and increased battlefield capability. To counter the growing threat posed by anti-tank guided missiles and rocket-propelled weapons, the U.S. Army integrated the Trophy Active Protection System (APS) onto the M1A2 SEP V2.

Developed to detect and defeat incoming anti-tank threats before they strike the vehicle, Trophy adds distinctive radar arrays and countermeasure launchers around the turret, giving the equipped Abrams a noticeably different appearance from a standard SEP V2.

MENG’s 1/72 kit reproduces this modern configuration in a compact but highly detailed package. Building on MENG’s previous 1/72 Abrams releases, the kit uses a modular assembly concept designed to provide good detail while keeping construction manageable.

About the M1A2 SEP V2 with Trophy

The M1A2 SEP V2 retains the Abrams’ powerful 120 mm M256 smoothbore main gun while incorporating advanced digital architecture, improved thermal sights and modernized battlefield systems.

The addition of Trophy provides an extra layer of protection against weapons such as anti-tank guided missiles and RPGs. Radar antennas mounted around the turret detect and track incoming threats, while side-mounted countermeasure launchers are designed to defeat them before they reach the tank’s armor.

The distinctive Trophy equipment makes this version of the Abrams an especially interesting subject for modern armor modelers and gives it a much different silhouette from earlier M1A1 and M1A2 variants.
