Build one of the most important late-war variants of Britain’s legendary fighter with the Airfix 1/48 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IXe.
Developed as a rapid response to the appearance of the formidable Focke-Wulf Fw 190, the Spitfire Mk.IX went on to become one of the most successful and widely used versions of the aircraft. The later Mk.IXe incorporated the “E” wing armament arrangement and continued serving both during the closing stages of World War II and with several post-war European air forces.
Airfix’s 1/48 scale kit features 124 detailed plastic parts and offers three distinctive marking options, covering wartime RAF service as well as post-war Danish and Belgian aircraft.

The Spitfire Mk.IXe is an excellent subject for modelers interested in both late-war RAF operations and the aircraft’s extensive post-war service. Airfix’s modern 1/48 tooling combines good surface detail with straightforward construction, making it suitable for an enjoyable out-of-the-box build or as the basis for a more detailed project.
With three very different European schemes included, the Airfix Spitfire Mk.IXe makes a versatile addition to any 1/48 WWII or post-war aircraft collection.
Paint and glue are required for assembly and are sold separately.
