The PR.XIX represents the pinnacle of Spitfire reconnaissance development and remained in frontline service well into the post-war era. One of the aircraft associated with the Royal Thai Air Force scheme had previously served with the RAF and was connected with the final operational sortie flown by an RAF Spitfire in April 1954.
