Citadel Shade paints are specially formulated acrylic washes designed to add depth, shadow, and definition to Warhammer miniatures and scenery. They flow into recesses and around raised details, making it easier to bring out sculpted detail, panel lines, armor joints, cloth folds, faces, weapons, and textured surfaces.

Perfect for Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and other tabletop miniatures, Citadel Shade paints are ideal after applying your base colors. They help create natural shadows and contrast across your models, giving them a more finished look with minimal effort.

Use Citadel Shade paints over Citadel Base and Layer paints to deepen colors, define details, and add realistic shading effects. Apply directly from the pot with a brush, guide the shade into recesses, and avoid letting it pool too heavily on flat areas. Allow to dry fully before adding highlights, drybrushing, or final details.
